  66. I would actually distinguish between the two types of call.

  68. If I heard someone say "blah blah blah monitoring", I would probably not
  69. go back to them unless I knew them, and wanted to talk to them about 
  70. something specific. (I think of this as an indication of their presence
  71. on the frequency rather than an open invitation to chat --- an action that
  72. strictly speaking is not permitted according to the UK license.)

  74. A general CQ I interpret as an invitation for _anyone_ to respond, so I might.

  87. The ARRL runs regular code practice on W1AW, and I have heard some local
  88. repreaters run practice sessions as well. W1AW skeds are published 
  89. periodically (npi) in "QST".

  91. The New Jersey Slow Net (NJSN) for years has taught traffic handling at
  92. slow speed, which improved both traffic handling and code skills. The
  93. net makes good listening for SWL ham wannabes, as well as Novices. Perhaps
  94. there is one on a frequency near you. See if you can get hold of a League
  95. NET DIRECTORY, which lists nets in the National Traffic System, et al.

  126. That implies nothing of the sort. It implies that you may continue to 
  127. operate until you either recieve your renewed license or the FCC notifies 
  128. you that your application for renewal was denied.

  131. many who are misinterpreting the 2nd Amendment of the Constutution too...
